Hey, what’s up?
Today, I wanted to share why I’m choosing to stay away from Adobe Creative Cloud.
If you’re currently wondering if you should pay for these tools. Then this could be for you.
Let go right in!
In the last days, I’ve been wondering what would be my next step as an entrepreneur. I realized the value of being able to create vector designs for my print-on-demand business and also as a video creator on YouTube.
1- IDEA OF PERFECTION
The Adobe Creative Cloud is a very attractive option. For personally, I was looking into Illustrator, Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Firefly & AI, Express and even the new experiential “Project Stardust” for my needs. They promote all these latest gadget, AI and tools. This is perfect for me. The moment something is too perfect and too good to be true, you should always be worried on the long-run. You set yourself for disappointment.
2- LOSS OF FREEDOM
By using all of these tools, you become chained and dependent to their softwares. You lose your freedom. By investing all your time, money and energy in Adobe, you set yourself to keep using them and not look at other options that could be better.
For example, I recently quit Flying Research (I made a video about it) because they are asking a price that was way too high for their actual value. I don’t like the AI solution that they’ve done and this is exactly why I switched to Podly that has the AI Listing Creator. And there are so many features in Flying Research that you probably won’t use all of them.
I think it’s the same thing with Adobe. They ask for an insane amount of money for a pack of features and tools that you will most likely never use.
3- PRICING
Yes, these softwares are pretty expensive. But it’s not necessarily about the money. I have money. I’m not going to show you my bank account, but I could afford to pay for these softwares. I personally avoid subscriptions as much as possible and prioritize FREE softwares or life-time purchases. I hate monthly subscriptions because you have to keep track of them (which takes mental space), you’re not owning anything, and you lose money on the long-term. Especially when Adobe is charging that much. Paying for life-time gives me peace of mind.
I mean, for now, the subscription that I have are:
- Amazon Prime – $10 monthly for personal AND business account
- Microsoft Personal 365 – $8 per month
- Canva Pro – $16.99
I mean, yes, those are subscriptions, but I’m not getting ripped off.
4- KNOWN FOR BAD BUSINESS PRACTICES
I mean, I’m sure Microsoft and Amazon aren’t perfect either, but I don’t feel I’m getting ripped off like Flying Research and Adobe Creative Cloud. I’m okay making business, but I want to do so with good business practices that I find reasonable. Do I really want to support that?
5- CRACKING, PIRACY AND THEFT
Adobe softwares are known to be stolen and cracked. That’s an option that you have, and you might find reasons to do so. But personally, I cannot recommend people do things against the low. It is illegal to crack and steal.
Another thing that you have to keep in mind is that you’re using your time and energy to damage a product that will ultimately be flawed and buggy.
You might also say that by stealing, the thief is morally right. But in reality, it’s you that becomes the thief. You become like your enemy.
CONCLUSION
In conclusion, I’m going to promote good softwares that are FREE and have/maintain good business practices.
I don’t want to be chained to softwares that ask maximum prices. I want to be free to make my own choices.
And if I think like a product is no longer the best product, I want to be able to walk away freely.
And because of that, I cannot recommend Adobe Creative Cloud nor Flying Research.
Instead of using Illustrator: use Affinity Designer 2 or Inkscape
Instead of using Photoshop: use Affinity Photo 2 or Gimp
Instead of using Premiere Pro: use OBS and Clipchamp
So that’s pretty much it, I hope this was helpful to you. If this blog was valuable to you, you could consider following me on social media and if you have any thoughts or comments, you can leave them below.
I hope this helps, peace!
