Unboxing Audio-Technica ATH-M50xSTS-USB StreamSet

Hey, what’s up?

Today, I wanted to share my experience unboxing the Audio-Technica AT H-M50xSTS-USB StreamSet.

I will unbox first, then compare the microphone quality with my Blue Yeti Nano and finally explain why I decided to purchase these.

That being said, I just wanted to say that I’m not really an audio engineer or audio professional. I’m simply unboxing a pair of headphones that I wanted.

USB, NOT XLR

Firstly, I got the USB version instead of the XLR version. In my case, I’m not an audio engineer or professional in that regard. I don’t have a mixer, and I’m not interested in having one. To me, it seems like adding more problems while being painful and expensive to use. I prefer using USB because it is much more convenient and easy to use. I can plug it with my computer, laptop and even my phone using an adapter.

HEADSET OVER MIC+HEADPHONES

Another reason I got them is because I was looking for a headset instead of having the combination of a standalone and headphones. In the last years, I’ve been using a Blue Yeti Nano and Sennheiser HD 569 headphones for my needs. Over all, I just dislike having a standalone microphone. It takes so much management, work, positioning and broom arm. Since I always wear headphones when I’m on the computer, I was looking for a good headset with an in-built microphone. That way, I get to combine all of these functions for around the same price that I would pay for them separately.

HEADSET MICROPHONE QUALITY

What particularly brought me to these headphones is the quality of the microphone. Since I’m making videos and also planning to start steaming soon, I really wanted a microphone that could match with the quality. One common bad thing that I found in my research is that the microphone quality of most headset is quite passable. They’re not bad, but not great either. In fact, most of them are built for gaming or video chatting. For example, I was mostly considering the Sennheiser Game One and the HyperX Cloud Alpha. Which are perfectly fine, but I wanted something that could compare with an actual standalone microphone. They also don’t have that ‘gamer’ style, making it look more professional.

CONCLUSION

In conclusion, the Audio-Technica ATH-M50xSTS-USB StreamSet is pretty expensive, but I see it as a good investment in my work and business. My goal is to simplify my computer setup while also improving the sound of my video creation and possibly streaming soon. These headphones have been designed for exactly that. I simply hope that they will last for at least of few years.

So that’s pretty much it, I hope this was helpful to you. If this blog was valuable to you, you could consider following me on social media and if you have any thoughts or comments, you can leave them below.

I hope this helps, peace!
