Hey, what’s up?
Today, I wanted to share another way that you can play Old School RuneScape using RuneLite on Linux.
Last year, I made a video showing a method on how you can make it work. That method is still working, and it was very well received. But today’s method is much simpler because the application is actually on FlatHub. It is called Bolt Launcher. It is basically a free and open-source third party software of the Jagex Launcher.
INSTALLATION
Let’s see how to install it.
- Open a Linux terminal.
- Make sure that flatpak is installed by checking the version into the terminal. If it’s installed, it will show the version number, if not you’ll see an error message, and you probably need to install flatpak.
flatpak --version
3. Go to Bolt Launcher FlatHub page.
4. Install the application using the button if you have FlatHub installed. You can install FlatHub on your computer if needed. Here‘s how to do it on Ubuntu.
5. Alternatively, if you don’t want to use FlatHub, you can use the command line from the manual installation.
flatpak install flathub com.adamcake.Bolt
LAUNCHING
From there, we should be able to launch the Bolt application straight from your computer. One important to keep in mind is that Bolt Launcher isn’t the official client. While it is free and open source, using it could lead to problems and issues like bans. Make sure you ackknowledge the risks.
CONCLUSION
In conclusion, playing OSRS on Linux can be a little challenging. Especially if you wish to use a third party game client like RuneLite. Thankfully, we can find a few projects like the Bolt Launcher that can help us to run RuneLite on Linux.
So that’s pretty much it, I hope this was helpful to you. If this blog was valuable to you, you could consider following me on social media and if you have any thoughts or comments, you can leave them below.
